On Sun Oct 26 Klaus will take participants on a journey through ‘Body Awareness and Energy’ and will share his unique techniques. He will explain how, from his personal journey, which involved watching and working with the wild Spanish horses of the Pyrenees, he has learnt to develop himself into a person the horses can trust implicitly.
He will explain what makes it possible for him to work a horse on the ground without any physical restraints; how he rides across open country without any tack and how he works a fully tacked horse at High School level on a completely loose rein. Klaus’s approach demands levels of self-awareness that can take many years to attain but he will demonstrate that the journey in itself is fulfilling and rewarding. Participants may not leave this one day event being able to instantly ride any wild horse but for those with the commitment, patience and perseverance - characteristics that horsepeople demonstrate daily - they will find a valuable seed which they can take home and nurture in our own paddocks.
Participants will be invited, collectively, to learn new body movements that can dramatically improve communications between horse and handler, these exercises will improve muscle tone and flexibility allowing better balance and poise when riding. We will also explore the need for trust and understanding between horse and handler in order to develop a safer experience for horse, rider and the general public.
The weekend will give participants:
· a deeper understanding of how to understand individual characteristics of any horse
· which type of approach will work best with individual horses
· insights into the impact their own personality has on their own horses – how horses mirror their owners and what we can do about it
· a series of physical exercises to continue to practice at home to develop a better seat, greater levels of trust and harmony with the horses
· some new ideas to our human approach to working with horses
· a deeper sense of safety around horses rooted in a better understanding of the horse which removes the tension and impact of a constant underlying fear of an unpredictable event
